The name "Project 127" originates from the powerful passage of James 1:27 which says, "Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." This truth is important because it states our faith will be evident by our works. Project 1:27 wants our faith to be evident in reaching the distressed in our communities. Are you ready to serve?
Widow: A woman without a husband due to death, divorce or disability, who cannot provide for her own needs and the needs of her dependents, and who doesn't have immediate family to assist in meeting those needs.
Orphan: A child without a father or mother who is lacking provisions for daily living and has no extended family to assist in providing for him/her.
There are many reasons why you may be considering adoption. Perhaps you cannot have a child of your own. Or maybe you desire to share God's love with a child and feel like it is your call to do so. Whatever the reason may be, the Project 1:27 team at Columbia Crossroads Church understands it can be a scary and big responsibility. We feel the need and the urgency to act on God's call for our lives and share His amazing rescue stories. Just look around you, turn on the TV or radio, and you will see and hear the need for hope, family, and real rescue stories in the world. As the body of Christ, we are called to help meet those needs. We are called to make sure that every man, woman, and child hears about the greatest rescue story of all time. God shares that story with us through his son Jesus Christ. We are here to encourage you. This process is not easy. It's a decision that will change you and change the lives of children. This decision will impact the world.

Project 127 feels strongly about caring for the widows and orphans. There are many ways to care for a widow or orphan, but in every case, love, grace and acceptance is crucial.
